A CraigsList Success Story!

Yes, we met, of all places, on CraigsList! I (Steve) answered his (Ascencion’s) ad (that was titled “Furry Latino for LTR) 😀

For those of you not versed in internet speak, “LTR” is short for “Long Term Relationship.”

Our first emails were brief and included a few pictures. Intrigued, attracted, and interested, we quickly moved into a texting phase. Being that is was during the holidays, neither of us had much time to meet right away, so we texted several times a day until the holidays passed, and finally had our first date on January 2, 2014. The date was for coffee, chat, and sizing each other up, and needless to say, it went extremely well. The date ended with an overly passionate kiss, and me saying that I wanted to see him again. He immediately responded with, “Me too!”

Relieved that my initial affections were being returned, I pressed forward with, “What about tomorrow?”

He looked a little surprised, took a moment of pause, then said, “That is what I want too!”

So we started dating and getting to know each other without pausing to consider where this might go. Due to the language difficulties, texting became our preferred method of communication when we were apart. It was much easier for me to figure out his meanings if they were written and I could sound them out! Texting also gave us enough time lag in our communication that I could check with Google Translate every time I had a question or possible misunderstanding. As I tell people now, Google Translate has become an important third party in our relationship…LOL

We continued to get along extremely well, and it wasn’t long before we were talking about a trip together to Las Vegas. Ascencion’s sister lives there and his vacation was quickly approaching. So without hesitation, we jumped on southwest.com and made flight reservations before we had been dating a month. But it all felt comfortable and easy, if a little fast.

To be continued…

    1. Thanks, Angela!

Its an ongoing story, so it won’t “finish” for many years 😀 But bringing it up to date before Saturday will probably have to wait until the lazy days of our honeymoon 😀

      Hugs,
      Steve
